Born and raised in New York City, Printmaker and Visual artist Tyler Michael McCray has used storytelling as a lens for vulnerability for several years. In moments of somber reflection, Tyler Michael McCray found perseverance and honesty through iconography and continues to preserve those relationships between his visual narratives through mixed media printing. Made In Carolina is a physical archive work dedicated to honoring and preserving black collective memory within American landscapes through objects of intimacy. Documenting and portraying these experiences in sincere, coded spaces are essential in honoring the lineage, liberation, and dissemination of black works. This zine integrates visual narratives, mixed media printing, myth, heritage, and biography to explore tones of perseverance.
